A new experience for Keven!

This may be a weird post, but I can't stop laughing while I watch the videos. Maybe it's just funny to me, but man...I was seriously dying. So this last Monday, Keven and I both got contacts. We can't really see from far away and only wear glasses when driving or watching TV. I really wanted contacts because I have had them before, but Keven was kind of iffy about it. He decided to try them out and poor guy!! I didn't realize how small his eyes are!! It took us like 45 minutes at the eye doctor to get them in and the only reason we got them in was because the assistant put them in. Poor Keven, his eyes were like blood shot and teary by the time we left!!

The fun part was when we got home!! Keven had them in Monday night, but Tuesday we thought we'd give it a shot to put them in again. I had to video tape it so Keven could see what he was doing wrong and I just couldn't stop laughing. It was seriously the funniest thing ever. Eventually he laid on the bed and I had to try to do it...but no luck. His eyes close shut as soon as my hand gets close to it!! I pull back his eyelashes but then his whole eye tightens up and I'm trying to squeeze that dang contact in his eye. You know when your eye is poked and no matter how hard you try opening it, it just doesn't open. Your eye gets all white because the colored part rolls in the back of your head? haha, that's how it was when I tried putting them in!! Laughing doesn't help because my hand starts to shake!! So what did we do? Well Keven called Bryan, his younger brother. They look a lot alike so we figured they have the same small eyes...yep! It took Bryan a week to eventually learn how to put them in! We had Keven on speaker phone with Bry trying to guide him into doing it.

I didn't realize how hard it was because my eyes are huge ol' bug eyes! Plus you could poke my eye like 50 times and I wouldn't blink. So if anyone has any pointers...let us know. He still hasn't been able to get them in! My poor little love bug! haha! Don't worry...we'll get it..even if we have to shave off your eyelashes!! OR maybe we should curl them so they are out of the way?!

I had the hardest time ever with mine as well in the beginning, and I have pretty big eyes. Now I wear them everyday. I remember the dr. giving me pointers that helped, but as that was 8th grade for the life I can't remember. Try pulling with the middle finger down and the pointer in--- without closing your eyes... huh? :)

Contacts are sooo hard to get used to!! He needs to hold his top eyelashes up too, not just the bottom! Tell him to hold his bottom eyelashes down with his middle finger, and the top eyelashes up with his pointer finger. Then with his OTHER hand put the contact in. That's the way I do it, and it's tons easier than the way he is trying

That was funny. It takes practice but when you use both hands to open your eyes, leave them there when you put your contact in. Once the contact is in and both hands are still there, look up, down and side to side and then release your hands. That always helped me. Good luck! Don't do it fast. Take your time.

Try pulling down just the bottom eye lid and put the contact on the bottom part of his eye and then close it. I cant put my finger right on the middle of my eye so I do it this way and don't seem to have a problem. I used to hate touching my eye!

What Tiffany said...exactly the best way to get them in! You'll be poppin them in soon enough without a mirror, while talking on the cell phone...and updating your blog! Ha! Great post! Good times, save the vid for your future wee ones! They will love it!! :)

This post is so funny! I remember when I first got my contacts a long time ago and I had a really hard time putting them in. The way I was finally able to do it was to get my finger close to my eye and then look away when I actually put it in. For some weird reason, that worked for me. Good luck! :)
